Blinded by light or confused by facts

Facts are dots and and relation between facts are lines connecting the dots. Stories are Pictures and to create a story we need the dots and the lines connecting those dots.

Generally speaking the more the dots the clearer the picture, the more the lines the better understanding of events. But as with everything else over dose is deadly.

Same lines and dots which create the picture and make the picture clearer can blur the picture and some times destroy it completely.

Mass media is overwhelmed with stories showing us different pictures of same events and some times same picture of different events.

Advancement in media powered by technology is supposed to give us better understanding of the events around us, a clearer picture of the world around us but unfortunately our senses are flooded in a fast moving world narrowing span of understanding and blinding our vision.

Most of the times it never is what it seems. Truth is buried under layers of twists turns. Therefore to find one's way in the dark one needs to use hands as just the eyes can't be relied upon.

News about the News

Any society is know collectively by the prevailing narrative in that society and about that society.

Raw material to manufacture Prevailing narrative is Information. Availability of information, repetition of information, positioning of information and interconnecting of information all contribute to form prevailing narrative or public opinion.

Demanding modern life has reduced direct human contact. Distances has been decreased but People to people gap has  has swollen. We can talk to each other at longer distances but we can not feel each other even at shorter distances. Scientific, Technological and social Developments in communication has filled the gap created by reduced human contact. We used to talk to each other and share information exchange views and opinions. We used to criticise analyse and rethink in a proactive fashion. We used to have less information but more time to think and process those information to form an opinion.

Now there is more information and less time to process those information. Constant stream of news reduces the significance or value of information on the one hand and leaves us no time to think about what we have just learned on the other hand. Thus making us passive recipients on a drip feed. We are loosing our ability to analyse, synthesise, criticise and rethink about things not because our brain is degenerating but because we have not evolved at at the same pace as mass media of communication around us has advanced.

Those who control the Media, Control the news. and those who control the news control the public opinion and prevailing narrative. I can only think about what I know and I know only what I am told is recipe to remotely control what I think.

We are flooded with the news but hardly we think why we are told what we are told and what we a not told that we are not told.

Therefore, the need for Information about the information, need for news about the news and need for information  about the sources of information is paramount today.

We need to step back, take a breath and start thinking about our thinking, start thinking about our sources of information
